Akhil spent many nights on a hospital bed, worried about catching up with his JEE syllabus while managing the pain of pancreatitis. He felt the pressure not just from the upcoming exam, but from knowing that his parents, still recovering from a recent accident, had taken out loans to cover both medical bills and his education. Away from home at his residential school, Akhil was coping with illness, homesickness, and worry about his family's growing debts, all while trying to stay focused on his goals.

Akhil's ambitions were never limited to cracking JEE or pursuing a career in STEM. Even as a boy, he dreamed of becoming a civil servant, someone who could create meaningful change in society.

Akhil grew up in rural Warangal, watching his parents rise before dawn to tend the fields, their hands weathered by years of hard work and uncertainty. Some seasons, the crops brought hope. Other years, drought, bad prices, or illness meant the family's dreams were put on hold. Still, his parents poured everything they had into their children's education.

Akhil's academic promise earned him a place at JNV Kottayam, and through it, access to Avanti. Surrounded by other bright, driven students, he initially thought the path to JEE success would be straightforward. But that was not how things unfolded. Just as the exam loomed closer, Akhil was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Weeks were spent in hospital rooms instead of classrooms, and each setback threatened to derail the progress he had worked so hard to achieve.

What kept Akhil going was the steady support of his mentors at Avanti. Their career guidance sessions became a lifeline, reminding him of his purpose and helping him rediscover hope when it felt out of reach. "The career guidance sessions made me feel confident in my chosen path and fuelled my preparation, despite the challenges," he recalls. Even at his lowest, Akhil refused to let go of his dream. Each small victory, whether a solved problem set, a good test result, or a word of encouragement from home, became a reason to keep moving forward, however slowly.

Akhil will now begin his journey at IIT Madras, pursuing Electrical and Electronics Engineering. His admission is an important milestone, one that reflects his perseverance and his family's years of sacrifice for his education.
