× AKSHAY SAXENA
Apart from being the Co-Founder of Avanti, Akshay is also an Ashoka fellow. He was awarded the Draper Richards Kaplan Fellowship and Echoing Green Fellowship in 2012 for his work at Avanti. Before starting his venture, he served on the founding team of HeartFlow, a venture-backed medical diagnostics company. His prior work experience includes management consulting with the Boston Consulting Group in India, project implementation with the United Nations World Food Programme and fundraising and strategy at The International Save the Children Alliance. Akshay graduated from IIT Bombay with a degree in Chemical Engineering and was enrolled in the MBA program at the Harvard Business School.
× KRISHNA RAMKUMAR
Krishna is the Co-Founder of Avanti and currently leads the operations as CEO. For his work at Avanti, he was awarded the Echoing Green Fellowship in 2012. He has also been recognized as one of ‘30 under 30 Social Entrepreneurs’ by Forbes in 2014. Previously, Krishna was a Senior Associate at Boston Consulting Group in Mumbai and graduated from IIT Bombay with a degree in Chemistry.
× Deepak Kamble
Currently working at Avanti Fellows as a Program Director, Deepak manages all the programs and associations with government school systems across the country. Previously, he worked with the IDEX Fellowship (International Fellowship Program in Social Enterprise) as a Field Director where he was responsible for execution of the program in India. Prior to that, he worked at ‘iDiscoveri Education’ as a Business Development Manager, where he was responsible for the company’s business for a few districts of Telangana. He has also worked as a consultant and researcher helping various overseas companies set up/do business with/in India and optimize production processes of large manufacturing organizations.
× Saksham Srivastava
Saksham currently handles Government Projects at Avanti Fellows. His work entails training teachers, monitoring state-wide program implementation, liaising with the government for conducting academic assessments and equipping schools with infrastructure. He's also involved in creating Hindi Curriculum for Maths and Science. Starting his Avanti stint in 2014 as a Program Manager, Saksham went on to conduct classes all across North India and set up and taught Avanti batches in Delhi, UP, Bihar and Kashmir. He also spent a year training teachers both for Avanti and various educational organisations. He graduated from IIT Kanpur in 2011 as a Civil Engineer and completed his MBA from IIM Kozhikode in 2014. He's into long-distance running and regularly runs half marathons.
× Deepak Kumar Behera
Deepak currently working at Avanti Fellows as the Program Manager for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Schools of Odisha and Maharastra regions. Previously,Deepak was working as a program Associate(Chemistry) in Avanti Fellows at JNV Bolangir. Prior to that, he worked as PGT Chemistry in JNV where he was teaching chemistry. He also worked as a junior Lecturer in chemistry in Khalikot Junior college, Berahampur University. He post graduated from School of Chemistry, Sambalpur University with a degree in Chemistry.
× Agny Ganesh
Agny currently manages and leads the end to end operations of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya schools in Karnataka and Pondicherry regions. Prior to joining in Avanti, Agny was pursing his Gandhi fellowship where he worked with government School education system with a goal of creating model government schools and gained a grass root understanding of Public system change. Earlier he was working as a Soft skill trainer in Bodhi Tree skills, empowering rural graduates in Tamil Nadu. He also worked as GET in Universal Engineering, Bangalore. Agny is an Electrical Engineer from Anna University, Chennai. His Aspiration is to provide educational and economic empowerment to rural youths.
× RAJ GILDA
Raj is a banker turned social entrepreneur and Co-Founder of ‘Lend A Hand India’. He leads the team for resource mobilization and external relations for Lend A Hand India apart from managing its presence in USA and UK. Prior to leaving corporate sector in 2011 to focus full time on Lend A Hand India, he spent ten years in New York working with Citibank and Deloitte Consulting. Raj was recently appointed by Government of India as a member of National Skill Development Agency (NSDA). He is an advisor to Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyaan (RMSA), Government of Maharashtra and member of state level committee to effectively utilize CSR resources for education sector. He was also selected by the UK Government, as a Chevening Gurukul Scholar (2012) at the London School of Economics. He was recognized as a top 100 graduate alumni of University of Texas at Austin and received an award for exceptional community service from the President of the United States.
× Piyush Tiwari
Piyush Tewari is a tri-sector leader with 15 years of experience in building and scaling government, corporate, and social enterprises. He currently serves as the CEO of SaveLIFE Foundation (SLF) and has been instrumental in leading it to several policy wins and on-ground impact since founding it 2008. Previously, Piyush led the India operations of Calibrated Healthcare, a LA-based private equity fund. Prior to Calibrated, Piyush served on the founding team of India Brand Equity Fund, an initiative of the Prime Minister of India to promote India as a globally competitive investment destination. Piyush is an Ashoka Fellow, an Echoing Green Fellow, and a Rolex Laureate. He has been profiled by The New York Times, National Geographic and Time Magazine. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Delhi University.
× Ashank Desai
Ashank Desai is the Co-founder and former Chairman of Mastek Ltd and a founding member of NASSCOM. He serves on the Governing Board of IIM Ahmedabad, IIT Jodhpur and is a member of the Advisory Board of SOM School of Management IIT Bombay and IIT Hyderabad. He is also a past Chairman of PanIIT Alumni India (PIAI) and was the Vice-Chairman, Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), IIT Bombay. He is a high-end provider of vertically-focused enterprise technology solutions and platforms. He was conferred with the much-coveted Outstanding Entrepreneur Award at the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards (APEA) in 2010. He is known for his outstanding contributions to the Indian Enterprise solutions industry. He holds an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay.
× Deepa Iyer
Deepa works with the team at Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation to identify and support innovative social entrepreneurs. Most recently, while an MBA student at The Wharton School, Deepa worked with Rocketship.vc, a unique venture capital fund in Palo Alto that leverages advanced data science techniques to identify promising technology startups around the world. She also helped drive strategy and deal flow for a nascent investment team at Omidyar Network, eBay founder Pierre Omidyar’s global impact investment vehicle. In India, she worked for Netafim, a pioneering Israeli agriculture technology company. At Netafim, Deepa designed and brought products to market to disrupt and streamline agricultural supply chains given limited access to water. Prior to business school, Deepa consulted to Fortune 100 companies with the Oliver Wyman Group in San Francisco. She also worked in international development with governments and multilateral agencies in 7+ countries as a senior researcher at Princeton University. Deepa received her M.B.A from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where she was Director of Investment for the Wharton Social Venture Fund and co-directed the Wharton India Startup Competition. She received an M.Sc. in development economics at Oxford on full scholarship, and graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and South Asian Studies.
