Akshay Saxena

Akshay currently serves as the President of Avanti. For his work at Avanti, he was awarded the Draper Richards Kaplan Fellowship and Echoing Green Fellowship in 2012. Before Avanti, Akshay served on the founding team of HeartFlow a venture-backed medical diagnostics company.  His prior work experience includes management consulting with the Boston Consulting Group in India, project implementation with the United Nations World Food Programme and fundraising and strategy at The International Save the Children Alliance. Akshay graduated from IIT Bombay in 2006 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and is on a leave of absence from the MBA program at the Harvard Business School.

Krishna Ramkumar

Krishna currently leads Avanti’s operations as CEO. For his work at Avant
i, he was awarded the Echoing Green Fellowship in 2012. Before Avanti, Krishna was a Senior Associate with the Boston Consulting Group in Mumbai. Krishna graduated from IIT Bombay in 2008 with a degree in Chemistry. At IIT, Krishna was the head of the Institute Student Mentor Program and editor of InsIghT, the student newspaper. He was also awarded the Shankar Dayal Sharma gold medal for overall academic and extra-curricular achievement at IIT Bombay.


Deepak Kamble
Program Director

Deepak currently works at Avanti as ‘Program Director’. He manages all (Four at the moment) programs with government school systems across the country. Deepak has worked for around 10 years, mostly in Education sector. In last assignment, he worked with IDEX Fellowship (International Fellowship Program in Social Enterprise) as a Field Director where he was responsible for execution of program in India. In earlier assignment with ‘iDiscoveri Education’ as Business Development Manager, he was responsible for company’s business for few districts of Andhra Pradesh (current Telangana).  He has also worked as consultant and researcher helping few overseas companies to set up/do business with/in India and optimize production processes of large manufacturing organizations.

Naga ppNaga Maddilety Reddy A.
Regional Manager, Chennai

Naga Reddy currently serves as the Regional Manager of Avanti Fellows in Chennai managing our program in Chennai Corporation Schools. Before joining Avanti, he worked at Jones Lang Lasalle. Naga graduated from IIT Roorkee in 2010. As the General Secretary of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at IIT, he led a team of 400 students to undertake various social activities including teaching and mentoring children from slums and nearby villages.


Jyothsna Kondakamarla 
Program Manager, JNV Program

Jyothsna Kondakamarla currently manages our JNV Program in three schools JNV Pondicherry, JNV Mangalore and JNV Bolangir. Before joining Avanti she worked as a Process Trainer and as Senior Process Associate in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for 4 years. She joined TCS in 2007, working first as a trainer for internal process for 2 years and then as part of the Back up HR Team for the next 2 years. She did her Bachelors and Masters degree in Functional English from Pondicherry University and MBA HR from the same university. During her graduation she interned with News Pondicherry as a reporter for a few months.


Shaman Gupta
Program Manager, Tibetan and Haryana Program

Shaman manages Avanti’s Tibetan school program and Haryana Goverment Schools program. Shaman is a graduate in Civil Engineering from NITK Surathkal and has worked for 2 yrs as Application Engineer with Oracle Corp at Bangalore. While in college he has interned with institutions like ONGC and CBRI. He also helps students with their academics and often does career counselling for students to help understand the best career options in and beyond science streams.


Shreyanka Rao 
Senior Program Manager, Mumbai

Shreyanka has worked as a Research Associate at Earth Institute, Columbia University’s Global Center in India on the Model Districts Education Project (MDEP) which aimed to improve the quality of primary school education for students living in rural India. She has also worked on multiple research policy papers on various themes that directly impact quality of education in rural primary schools. Before that, Shreyanka was with the International Rescue Committee at Columbia University. Shreyanka has a Masters degree in International Education Development from Columbia University, New York and has an undergraduate degree in International Studies from Soka University of America, California where she also minored in Spanish and spent a semester studying Human Rights at Universidad de Buenos Aires. Shreyanka LOVES food!

Eevera2Eevera M S 
Curriculum Manager, Chennai

Eevera manages Curriculum designing and creation for Chennai Schools Program. Prior to joining Avanti, he worked with Teach for India. He became passionate about teaching while working for 2 years in one of the Chennai Schools as TFI fellow. He graduated from IIT Madras with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His hobbies include travelling/ trekking, playing basketball and watching movies. He also happen to love motorbikes and have done quite a few road trips.
