The IIT Delhi chapter faced a great moment of crisis towards the end of 2011 – their coaching partner, Brilliants, shut down operations in Delhi. It would take a while to get all the fellows enrolled with a new coaching partner, VMC – in fact it took 3 months. In the meanwhile the IIT Delhi chapter took the onus of teaching all the fellows into their own hands.
The doubt solving sessions turned into full fledged classes – lasting 4 hours, covering 2 subjects, fortnightly to keep the momentum going. They performed almost all the tasks a good teacher does and more – taught the matter continuing with the same portion that the fellows were following before, cleared doubts, conducted tests, assessed their performance in tests and helped them set targets for themselves.
Travelling far and wide during Delhi’s searing summers – Abhishek Sinha, Imran, Sagar taught maths, Shubham,Ekta and Vatsal taught physics, Sushanth Yadukar, Aritra, Surabhi, Ekta and Gurpreet taught chemistry – and they all taught all of us that a good team effort can take you through any situation.
